About this opportunity

The Nordic Culture Fund backs projects built on collaboration across the Nordic region — Denmark, Finland, the Faroe Islands, Greenland, Iceland, Norway, Sweden and Åland — and music qualifies. What the fund looks for is beginnings: new artistic initiatives, new networks, or an existing collaboration taken somewhere clearly new. Anyone can apply regardless of nationality, including partners based outside the region, but the project must be a genuine joint effort between actors in different countries rather than one organisation with guests. Several exclusions matter for musicians. Releases and recordings are not funded when they are the main purpose. Tours are not funded unless part of a wider Nordic collaboration. Individual projects, working scholarships, study visits, and an artist's own participation in someone else's event are all outside scope — only the organisers of an event can apply for that. Grants reach DKK 500,000, though the fund notes that few projects receive DKK 300,000 or more, and at least half the budget must come from elsewhere; combined support from official Nordic bodies cannot exceed 85 per cent. You apply through the online portal with a balanced budget. Advisers check the application, external experts in the field give an opinion, and the director decides, roughly eight weeks after the deadline. Assessment turns on artistic ambition and innovation, how deeply the Nordic collaboration runs, and whether the budget is realistic. Note that the fund has published that its programmes are being redeveloped and that autumn 2026 criteria and deadlines are not yet determined.
