About this opportunity
The Danish Arts Foundation's main project pot for working music groups — bands, orchestras, choirs and ensembles — covering a year of activity at a time. Applications at the August 2026 deadline are for the 2027 calendar year. Groups of six people or more can also apply for concert fees, which smaller groups cannot. Any concerts involved have to be open to the public.
Professional music groups apply, as can an individual who leads several of them. The pot doesn't cover school concerts, releases, work grants, or courses and other training — all of those sit in other schemes. Groups already on a multi-year agreement with the foundation for the same purpose are excluded. Ensembles with a municipal co-funding commitment of at least half the amount requested can contact the foundation about basisensemble status.
No fixed amount is published. The committee often awards less than requested, judging each application against the whole field and the budget available; previous awards are listed publicly.
Attachments are a project description and budget on the foundation's templates, plus one or two music examples as MP3 or MP4 that best show what the group actually sounds like. Applications go through the Tilskudsportalen with MitID, on desktop only, in Danish.
The music committee weighs artistic quality first — courage, relevance, originality, a clear artistic idea and a defined audience — then your overall concert activity this year including international work, whether you are being paid at a professional level, and whether the activity could reasonably happen on ordinary commercial terms without them. Answers within twelve weeks.
