About this opportunity
This is organisation money, not artist money. Only registered bodies with a Finnish Business ID can apply, so a foundation, association or company; individual writers and informal working groups are directed to the separate grants for music creators instead. What it backs is a defined project that improves conditions for Finnish composers, lyricists and arrangers, or raises the creative or commercial value of Finnish music, and it must be something the applicant could not carry out unaided, usually because the financial risk is too high.
The foundation says openly that it prefers to make a few large grants rather than many small ones, and that it will fund the same project across several years where that makes sense. It leans towards work that changes structures, opens international routes for Finnish writers and their catalogue, broadens who gets heard, and leaves behind knowledge, models or networks once the money stops. No amount range is published, so the figure depends entirely on the project you put forward.
The exclusions are wide and worth reading before you invest time: no recordings, no music videos, no instrument or equipment purchases, no ordinary touring, concert, festival or club running costs, no premises, no general overheads, and nothing that funds an individual creator's own work. Music generated entirely by AI is also out.
There is no deadline. Applications go in through the online service at any time and need a named project lead, a description of what happens and with whom, an account of the intended impact and how it outlasts the project, a realistic budget showing your own contribution, and a list of partners. The board decides in March, August and November, taking two to four months on average, and gives no reasons for its decisions.
