About this opportunity
Aalborg Municipality's rhythmic music pool pays for gigs happening in Aalborg. That covers single concerts and workshops, concert series or a whole year's programme, recurring events and festivals, and other projects that build up the local music scene. Everything funded has to be open to the public and has to take place in the municipality. Rhythmic music is the boundary - jazz, rock, pop and related genres rather than classical or choral. If your project spans several art forms you either pick the pool that fits best or split it into separate applications.
Applicants are associations, institutions and other organisers, so this is a promoter's fund rather than a grant an individual artist applies for to make their own work. Cultural institutions and associations already receiving regular funding from the municipality can apply, but must explain how the project sits outside their normal operations.
The published page does not state amounts or a ceiling, and the detailed assessment criteria live in a separate set of guidelines worth reading before you start. Applications go through the municipality's digital grants portal, where each association holds one applicant profile that several people can use. The process is in Danish.
There are three deadlines a year - in 2027, 7 February, 2 May and 15 August. The Rhythmic Music Committee assesses applications and the Health and Culture Committee makes the final decision. Beyond artistic merit, they weigh how to spread the pool across different genres and different organisers, which matters if you are a repeat applicant. A grant can be made conditional on also securing support from the Danish Arts Foundation's fee scheme. If you win support, your marketing must credit the Musikpulje, and the municipality can reclaim money if the project ends up in surplus, leaves funds unspent, or breaches the terms.
