About this opportunity

Danish Arts Foundation money for the amateur side of music-making — choirs, bands, orchestras and the organisations and promoters that keep them going. It funds activity rather than individual musicians: courses, gatherings, network-building, cross-sector collaborations, and the project management and administration behind them. Grants are for the following calendar year, so applications at the August 2026 deadline are for 2027 activity.

Applicants are the amateur field's national organisations and associations, plus music promoters whose work reaches people playing music in their spare time, at any age. If you already hold a multi-year agreement with Statens Kunstfond for the same purpose, you cannot apply here.

There is no fixed grant size. The committee assesses each application against the whole field and routinely awards less than was asked for, in order to spread support across the country; past awards are published if you want a sense of scale. Reasonable co-financing is expected, whether through participant fees or funding from elsewhere.

The Projektstøtteudvalget for Musik decides, weighing artistic quality above all — courage in the artistic and communication choices, artistic and social relevance, a project with something to say, the applicant's ability to actually deliver it, and a clearly defined target group. Regional or national reach matters too, as does genuine access for participants.

You apply through the Tilskudsportalen with MitID, on a desktop computer, attaching a project description and budget on the foundation's own templates. The portal and all guidance are in Danish. Decisions come within twelve weeks of the deadline.
