Finnish Cultural Foundation (SKR) – August Round 2026 (Mobility & Residency grants)

The Finnish Cultural Foundation runs four application rounds a year, and August is the one for mobility, residencies and whatever special-purpose grants the Foundation is offering that year. The window is 10 to 31 August 2026, closing at 4pm Finnish time on the final day.

Three things are on offer. Mobility grants cover the costs of international cooperation taking place outside Finland and are open to artists and art critics in any field — so a musician travelling for a co-production, an exchange, or a professional engagement abroad. Residency grants support the international artists' residency programmes the Foundation funds each year. The World on Stage grant is narrower: it funds translating a contemporary foreign theatrical work into Finnish and staging it in Finland, and accepts applications from registered organisations and working groups rather than lone individuals.

Applicants can be private individuals, registered organisations or working groups, across every field of art and science.

The Foundation is emphatic that its general application guidelines apply to all four rounds and should be read before you write anything. That is where the detail on amounts, eligibility and assessment lives; the round page itself deliberately stays at headline level, so treat it as a signpost rather than the guidelines.

The other rounds are January, for the regional funds, and March and October for the central fund — so if August does not suit your timing, another is never far off.
